"Ek BAAP agar apne bachche ki Zindagi ka pehla kadam uthane mein uski madad kar sakta hai ..toh wohi aulad apne Baap ke aakhri kadam lene mein uska sahara kyun nahin ban sakte" ..went a brilliant dialogue in a thought provoking climax speech by AMITABH BACHCHAN in BAGHBAN(2003).
This simple yet powerful lines forms the basic core of this first release of 2021...
SEEMA PAHWA ..A master performer herself... (BAREILLY KI BARFI ..SHUBH MANGAL SAVDHAN) makes her directorial debut bringing together a cluster of fantastic performers in this BAGHBANish tale
The HEAD OF THR FAMILY (NASEERUDDIN SHAH ..in an extended cameo) takes to heavenly abode..in his hometown
All his kins (6 in all) are summoned for last rites ..
13 day tradition of mourning is followed with all family members in tow..with each family members true colours coming out from closet
What happens nxt in those 13 days forms the rest of the story...
Film starts off well on a promising note but slow & intepid screenplay hamper the narrative..
Dialogues n dialect gels well with the rural set up of LUCKNOW..
Music does not have much scope
NASEERUDDIN SHAH..has hardly anything to do..
SUPRIYA PATHAK...less dialogues but high on emotions
Veteran performers like MANOJ PAHWA...NINAD KAMATH..VINAY PATHAK..PARAMBRATA C...KONKONA S....are able supporting cast playing their part with full authority..
A Tale ..with better writing could have taken the film a notch higher...
