Shivaji Rao Gaekwad, popularly known as Super Star Rajnikanth, is a popular Indian actor who began his journey in the Tamil film industry. Rajnikanth was born on December 12, 1950, in a lower-class family which settled in Bangalore, Karnataka.
Active since 1975 in the industry, Superstar Rajnikanth has left the audience stunned with his mesmerizing work on the big screen. Other than the Tamil industry, Rajnikanth has also done multiple projects in Bollywood. Apart from acting, Rajnikanth also shares an interest in film production and screenwriting.
Although Rajnikanth was born in Bangalore, Karnataka, his ancestral family was from Maharashtra. His family followed Marathi culture while living in the southern regions of the country. Sadly, Rajnikanth lost his mother at an early age. As a school kid, Rajnikanth was a mischievous yet studious child who also had a keen interest in sports.
While Rajnikanth was in his early schooling days at the Ramakrishna Math, He developed an interest in acting in school plays, and eventually, this is where his passion for acting got a spark. His aspirations to become an actor grew more and more as he started to perform in theaters.
Unfortunately, Rajnikanth did not get an opportunity to enter higher education after completion of school and thus he started to perform different minor jobs to manage his expenses. Rajnikanth started to work as a coolie on railway stations before he got a job as a ticket collector in Bus transport service in Bangalore.
Rajnikanth got his first break in the Tamil Film Industry with a film, Apoorva Raagangal which was released in 1975. Although Rajnikanth had a small role in the movie, he still received positive acclaim from critics. The movie bagged three National Awards which brought Rajnikanth into the limelight.
From here, the acting career of Rajnikanth kept going higher and higher. However, he faced some ups and downs between 1978 to 1989 but he never stopped acting in films for his fans and now has become a superstar who is known globally.
